Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald — Official Final Trailer The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is back with a bang. 2016 saw the debut of the stage sequel Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and – more importantly for our purposes here today – kicked off the first film in a new five-part prequel franchise.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them took us back to 1926 – a world preparing itself for war against the growing forces of the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. The next four films will span 19 years, building up to some major events in the Harry Potter backstory.
The first image from part 2 shared on the official Twitter page for the sequel, was an image of Newt Scamander’s (Eddie Redmayne) travel permit application, which looks like it’s pending approval from the Ministry of Magic. The Ministry states that Newt was “uncooperative and evasive on reasons for last trip” – well yes, we can imagine he might have been…
The second image is equally tantalising – an invitation to Newt’s book launch which hints at a fan theory about Newt and Credence…
Meanwhile, series producer David Heyman has teased that each of the upcoming sequels will have its own distinct flavour.
“This next film is different to the first, but each film will march to its own beat and have its own tone,” he told Digital Spy. “I don’t yet know if the series will get darker, although all of them will be fun and entertaining.”
